Supporting The
RotaCare West Contra Costa Free Medical Clinic

Honoring
Dr. Pate Thomson

Dr. Pate Thomson founded the RotaCare West Contra Costa (formerly Richmond) Free Medical Clinic in 2013.

His devoted efforts over the years have helped provide free primary, quality healthcare services to uninsured families and individuals with limited ability to pay for medical care.

All services provided at the clinic are free to the patient, including medical exams, diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing and most medications.

Help us to honor Dr. Pate Thomson's legacy by joining us at Care and Share 2026, donating directly, or sponsoring our event.

About the Clinic

Grants, donations, volunteers and fundraisers support the RotaCare West Contra Costa Free Medical Clinic located in San Pablo.

RotaCare provides care to a growing population of working and unemployed residents who are unable to pay for or access primary and urgent medical care services.

Our RotaCare Clinic provides:

  • Urgent care services for Adults

  • Women's Health Services
  • Physical exams for employment, school, daycare, and sports
  • Referrals to community, social services, and health resources

  • One-to-One Diabetic Health Education

  • Language interpreters for non-English speakers

Help us achieve our goals:

  • Move toward 1,000+ patient visits/year
  • Build infrastructure for scheduling & follow-up
  • Strengthen partnerships and referral pathways
  • Create a scalable model for long-term growth

Your support helps:

  • A parent get treated and return to work
  • A chronic condition managed before it becomes a crisis
  • A patient avoid a costly emergency room visit
  • A community stay healthier and more stable

This is not just healthcare,
it’s dignity, stability, and opportunity

“I finally have peace of mind.”

When Jose ran out of medication and had no insurance, he faced an impossible choice, pay for care or basic needs like food.

At RotaCare WCC, he found something different.

“When I was told the medications would be free, I felt relief… I was worried I wouldn’t be able to afford my medication, or even food.”

Today, Jose is managing his diabetes and looking for work again.

“I feel more relaxed… it gives me the willingness to go out and find a job.”

“I would not be able to see a doctor.”

Another patient came to the clinic after being unable to afford care anywhere else.

At RotaCare WCC, they received their first diagnosis and ongoing treatment for diabetes.

After two years of care:

“My health has improved… I feel happy that I found this place.”
